Vertical Slice

You play as Little Spirit who visits a village in the forest to help the villagers prepare for the Festival of Lights. But something seems to be wrong in the village when all the villagers disappear.
Game Design and Screenplay
The Vertical Slice was developed as a project in a lecture. As a team, we came up with the idea of the game and because we wanted to focus on the psychological aspect and the story, we first elaborated these two points. After that, we dealt with the mechanics of the game, for which I then made a diagram to compile the core loop and the most important features of the game.
We divided the game into two parts, the first one is implemented in the Vertical Slice. The cute look is supposed to mislead the players, so that the second part, in which the horror is revealed, comes even more surprising. I then wrote the script for the story sequence in the Vertical Slice.
3D-Modeling
In this project I was responsible as a 3D artist and used Blender for the realization. I first took care of modelling and animating the NPCs and the game character. Little Spirit, the game character, can run, jump and also has an idle animation. The villagers themselves are scattered throughout the village and have an idle animation. I then made the villagers‚ mushroom houses. The mushroom houses were designd to reflect the villagers and their different character traits, again. Other assets that I was responsible for where additional assets such as flowers, bushes and boxes to make the village more lively.
